After losing her job, Jersey girl Stephanie Plum is broke. Needing a job she is told that her cousin, a bail bondsman, needs someone to help out in the office. But the only job openings he has are for skip tracers. She learns that Joe Morelli, a guy she knew intimately years ago, is one of the "skips". She eventually finds him but wasn't really prepared so he gets away. Another bounty hunter, Ranger, tries to teach her. Eventually she finds Morelli again, but he claims he is innocent of the crime he is accused of and he is trying to prove his innocence. Eventually Stephanie thinks he's telling the truth so she stakes out the person who can help him. She only finds herself in trouble and Morelli saves her. She tries to find someone who can prove his innocence, but the problem is that shortly after meeting with them they're killed or attacked.
Unemployed and newly-divorced Stephanie Plum lands a job at her cousin's bail-bond business, where her first assignment puts her on the trail of a wanted local cop from her romantic past.
The only thing is I was hugely disappointed that some of the funniest parts were left out. I have to wonder if the directer read the book? I love all of the characters. They were perfect. Granny is perfect. I have been a faithful fan of Janet&#39;s, Stephanie. I have to be careful about not reading in public because I get uncontrollable crying laughter; I was in a waiting room and this woman asked me from across the room, &quot;You&#39;re reading a Stephanie Blum novel aren&#39;t You&quot; and I wiped the tears and said yes. So for you to eliminate the hilarious parts of the book could very well cause this film to fail. I realize you have to shorten but you cut your own throats by the elimination. I have laughed at Lulu and Granny to the point of bawling with laughter. I suppose the answer to this is to stick to the books. You seriously have a winner in this story line of the books. Maybe a TV series would be better?¿?<br/><br/>READ THE ACTUAL BOOKS BEFORE YOU SET THE SCRIPT.
My wife was really looking forward to this movie because she has read all 18 Stephanie Plum novels and loved them. I&#39;ve heard her laugh out loud reading them, so when they made a movie based on the books, I was in.<br/><br/>I hardly EVER, EVER stop a movie in the middle. Even when they are bad. For some reason, I always think that they will get better at the end. After an hour of boredom, I turned it off. There was not a single redeeming character in the whole movie. All the acting was bad. The story was worse. The directing even worse than that. It seemed like all the characters were at rehearsal and walking through their lines and not even trying. And that is the director&#39;s and writers fault for not caring enough about their product.<br/><br/>With the potential to have many, MANY sequels in a successful book series, it seems like the producers would have hired a better crew to get this project off the ground. Instead, like the wonderful James Patterson books which get turned into bad movies, this series is dead before it even begins.<br/><br/>Bottom line – Don&#39;t waste your time.
Making even more appearances than the rodent is the Big Gulp; the lady bounty hunter is constantly consuming junk - though at least when Heigl is snacking, she isn't talking.
